Veronica's phone kept going off as she was getting ready for date night with Rafael. Why? She has no idea how she agreed to go on a date with a man that’s coming on strong and has been dreaming of her. From what she understood at the costume treehouse party and the text was that he’s human and doesn’t know anything about their world. Veronica really wanted to phase in front of him just to scare him away. But she also imagined him, petting her and calling her beautiful wolf and she doesn’t even want to think about what will happen when she phases back and she’s butt naked. A chill went up her spine making her shudder at the thought of her being naked in front of a human that’s been swooning over her.
Not having time to pamper herself prior to date night or go out and buy a brand new dress, Veronica dug through her dress collection and found a grape purple colored mini-halter backless dress with a cut out in middle of her abdomen with ruffles . She had bought this dress for her 21st birthday which was never celebrated. This dress covers good part of skin and area she didn’t want to reveal to Rafael but it does show skin where normally people don’t. Slipping into dress, she found herself struggling to close the zipper. She would love to have someone help her get ready since she’s not good makeup but who would she ask? Natasha? She was busy being carefree, flirtatious and figuring out her life. She finally zipped her dress and signed. “Man that’s a workout.” Veronica laughed and started doing her make up. She was going for smoky eyes with nude lips and wavy hair.
Thankful for short hair, easy makeup and workouts, Veronica looked at herself in the mirror and patted herself in the back. She sprayed floral perfume on her wrist, behind her ear, and some on her dress. She struggles with makeup most days and this time, it didn’t take her more than 30 minutes to finish her makeup look and 20 minutes to her hair. She walked barefoot to end of her bed and grabbed her pointed 4” black heels before heading down the stairs. She had picked out black envelope clutch earlier that day and filled it with her wallet, lipstick, travel perfume and mint. Veronica pulled out 1800 silver bottle from bar, poured some in a shot glass and chugged it. It burned like hell as it went through her throat but needed that hit before her date.
She picked up her phone to read all the text messages, she shook her head when she read Candis name in the chat. Ignoring group chat, she sent a separate text to Rafael. ”Hey. I’m ready. Let me know when you’re close by.” She poured another shot and chugged it, she closed the bottle and placed it back where she took it out from. She wasn’t nervous about the date but she was nervous about what she might say to the man and might offend him. Veronica signed and sat on the couch, catching up on group text.

Today was finally the day, it felt as though he had spent weeks trying to get Veronica to even notice him. Ever since the night at the strip club when he had seen her on his way out he couldn't get her off his mind. It was at the moment his eyes had met her he'd fallen in love, and he stopped trying to get her attention. When she finally agreed to a date, Raf was so excited he hopped off the table where Claude’s vicious chihuahua Blue had held him hostage. He scooped up the overgrown rat and shoved it in the spare bedroom. He hoped Claude would come get it soon because there was no way that thing would be allowed in his home again.
Heading to the bathroom he turned on the shower and hopped in. He let the warm water travel down his rippling chest like water hitting rock on a waterfall it misted out in every direction. He waited till he was good and damp before he shoved his hair under the flowing warm water to moisten his hair before adding the coconut scented shampoo, using it also as body wash. He loved the smell of the coconut artificial. I reminded him of the smell of the beach, the surf and sun. Now he was in a place where most days were overcast and surfing was nonexistent.
When his uncle had fallen ill he had moved from California to La Push to take care of him. Family always came first and his uncle never being married or having children the responsibility fell on him. The worst part about the whole situation was Candi. He wasn't too serious about dating her back in California but she must have been because she followed him out. He gave her a place to stay for a few days and was willing to make things work out with each until he'd found out she was working at a strip club. If he wasn't the only guy who she needed attention from, he wasn't the one for her. Then there was the case of the sham marriage to Catcher,if she was so willing to accept a ring from a stranger what else could she do. He broke it off that night, and the only good thing that became of that night was seeing Veronica for the first time
Clearing everything from his mind, and all the soap from his body he grabbed a towel off the shelf and headed to his room to get dressed. He slipped on a pair of dark blue jeans, a black t-shirt which he paired with a dark purple suit jacket. He hoped he was dressed up enough for Veronica. Hearing his phone go off he picked it up seeing a message from V. She was classy and he was more rugged in appearance. So opposite but he heard the saying enough opposites attract. He was hoping tonight would prove that. Slipping on a black pair of shoes he quickly headed out the door. He texts Claude quickly telling him he was on his way out and where he hid a key so he could get the demon dog out of his place before he returned.
It didn't take long for him to get over to the address that Veronica had given him. Parking his black jeep out front of the house he sent her a message saying he was out front. Tonight they would be heading to Port Angeles for dinner out of the prying eyes of her friends and to a nice restaurant of her choosing. He wanted tonight to be perfect for her, he would do anything for her just to see her smile. He sat there sweaty hand on the steering wheel, waiting for her to come out.

Veronica had placed her phone in her lap and started snoozing off. She hasn’t been able to sleep at night and during the day, feeling tired and sluggish. When she couldn’t sleep, she phases and goes for a run in the woods just so she can tire herself out in hopes that she will sleep. That never happens and she stays awake like a damn vampire. Due to lack of sleep, she has been more bitchy lately with everyone. Few nights ago she had worked up courage to go Quilieute River where Veronica and Axel started and gave them proper goodbye. A closure that she’s been wanting for a while. At night she keeps having dreams that Axel comes back and eats her and her friends. Why? No idea. It may be her subconscious telling her it wasn’t right but her mind and heart were telling her it was right decision. She was letting past go and moving on to what’s in the present and future. She may not know what her future holds, one thing was certain that she was going to be happy and love herself. She even thought about gaining weight as she doesn’t want to look like a twig forever.
Her phone dinged loudly, making her jump and look around the house. ”Fuck!” Veronica jumped out of the sofa, ran to nearest mirror to make sure her makeup and hair were okay and no drool on her face. She pated her cheeks to wake up and give some sort of color to her face as she looked like a zombie came to life. She fixed her hair a little bit to look more presentable and slipped into her heels. She rather wear tennis shoes than heels but she wasn’t going to complain as it’s been ages since she wore 4 inch heels. She fears she might fall on the ground face down just to embarrass herself. She picked up her phone and placed it inside her purse and walked outside. She locked front door of the house and turned around to see car lights hit her lights, making her squint and sigh at the same time.
She wanted to forget about this date and live as couch potato life. It was best kind of life for her; house sit, swim, patrol, eat and repeat. Veronica told herself that she needs this - to go out, have fun and play dress up. She can’t continue to wear baggy clothes and wonder why people are staring at her. Now, she will give people to talk and stare about her. She walked slowly towards Rafael’s black jeep and murmured to herself ”here goes nothing.” She opened the passenger door and whip of mens cologne hit her face. Veronica always liked men’s cologne especially when it has citrusy, fresh smell to it. Veronica looked at Rafael and smiled sweetly. Car’s light wasn’t helping her see what he was wearing aside from dark purple blazer and jeans. Veronica got in the jeep, closed the door and fastened her seat belt. Placing her clutch on her lap, she looked at her date and wanted to make snarky comment but held back. ”Well don’t you clean up nice.” Veronica took her phone out and to pull up address to restaurant they will be going to. ”I made reservations at Bella Italia in Port Angeles for 8 and here is the address.” Veronica shows her phone to his so he place the address in his phone or she guide him.

Raf tapped his hand anxiously for a few minutes on the steering wheel waiting for Veronica to come out. It didn't take long for her to head out the door. She looked gorgeous in her purple dress, a vision of beauty and he was stoked that he decided on the purple jacket after all, now they sort of matched. She grabbed the door handle and quickly hopped in. A large grin crossed his face enjoying her complement now she had only seen him in beach clothes and he merman costume.
"Thank you.you looked more beautiful then I remember." He watched her pull up the directions on her phone and tell him where she had made the reservations. He had never been to the Silver Spoon restaurant before but Italian food was a great choice, he enjoyed a good plate of pasta. Pulling the car out of park he started down the road, his eyes kept falling on Veronica and he couldn't stop smiling. "I'm glad you finally agreed to go out on a date with me. I really didn't think you would." He didn't have his hopes up from when they were talking. She didn't seem as interested in this whole thing as he was himself. He stopped at the end of the road and turned left.
He knew the way to Port Angeles, he was just there last week antique picking. He had picked up a few items for a client that was looking for some particular items to decorate her home. "So Veronica, what do you like to do besides hanging out with your friends? I feel spoiled because they let me steal you away for the evening in the town."He could have slapped himself, he felt he sounded so stupid trying to make conversations. Hopefully the pasta didn't have too much cheese because he was bringing enough. He just needs to relax and not worry so much about forcing conversation. He kept trying to stay focused on the road but she was making it difficult. He didn't know what happened in his life that made him so lucky tonight.

She was sensing some awkwardness in the car and she was doing her best not to make it awkward otherwise this will be a disaster. Veronica had called her mom in the morning to let her know that she’s going on a date with a human named Rafael and she felt odd about it. Her mom came to her rescue and told her not to worry about anything nor try to control as it might get out of hand and she will feel guilty. In a way her mom was right, Veronica has tendency to control things and when it gets out of hand, she beats herself up for it. She had mediated and prayed in the morning to calm her nerves and wished she had done that before getting ready for the date. But now here she was, in small space with a giant going on a date that may or may not go right.
She watched the road ahead of her while Rafael drove, it was rather quiet so she turned on the radio and lowered the volume to keep it as background noise; Animals by Maroon 5 was playing and she bit her lip so she wouldn’t sing along to that song. She looked at Rafael as he spoke, she heard some nervousness in his voice and she touched his arm. Workout junkie, no wonder he’s huge.”Truth be told, I wasn’t expecting to say yes either but here we are.” Veronica cleared her throat and looked ahead once again. It was cloudy all the day today with no rain but sun did come up as they were driving and she was left in awe. She always loved sunsets and sunrises; she would wake up early sit on the porch with hot coffee and watch. It something that calms her down and the quietness reminds her of her life, quiet and peaceful. Or so she thinks; it’s always something going on in her life and now it’s Rafael before it was Axel. When will she find time for herself to reflect on life?
What does Veronica like to do when she’s by herself? Run in the woods in wolf form almost came out her lips but she stopped herself. ”Staying home, reading a book or two, swim, workout, and being a couch potato with sweats on or pajamas.” Sweats and pajamas slipped through her lips before she stopped herself. It wasn’t a lie, she loves being a couch potato in sweats more than dressing up. ”My friends have their own agenda for the night. They’re probably at each others throat or eating their feelings. What about you? I’m going to say workout is a must for you.” She poked his arm and chuckled. If she wanted, she could easily take him down..in her wolf form of course. ”If you don’t know the roads, I can take over for you.” She may have been gone for years but she knew these roads on back of hand.

Raf felt Veronica hand on his arm, it's what everyone always did, like they were more interested in his muscles then on what he actually said most of the time. "Ronnie, can I call you that? I can picture everything but you being a couch potato" he looked over at her given her so playful side eye action.she looked far from someone who would be sitting around at home on a couch during her free time. Every part of her was banging. As she described what she did he realized he hadn't really told her anything about himself. All she basically knew he looked good, wet and even better with his shirt off.
"Whatever your friends are doing, my first toast will be to them." He chucked and tapped his hand on the steering wheel to the beat of the music. He could feel the worn leather under his fingertips. It was a good song to help calm his nerves a little "Actually, working out is at the bottom of my list these days. I loved or still love surfing. The waves aren't shit out here. Even that's been put on the back burner." He missed the sand and sun but family came before his passion."Do you know that fancy antique store on the Res, Red Wolfe Antiques? I'm usually there all day long." It was the typical job for a guy like him. He knew he should be a personal trainer or something. He pushed his food down on the exceleratior picking up some speed.
Raf looked at Veronica when she mentioned her taking over if needed, he liked a girl with a good sense of direction, he was not one of those guys who get lost for an hour just to seem like they knew where they were going. He touched his hair pushing it away from his face. He wasn't sure why he had worn it down tonight he probably was fighting to keep it out of his food all night. " You know the way, be honest with me thought. What was you reason for accepting my invitation? Not not because I'm a pretty boy is it?" He narrowed his eyes at her and fluttered his eyelashes. He laughed lightly as he saw the sign saying they had made it to the city. "See we made it, I even remember the short cut."

Ronnie that was name that she loved and hated the most. Ronnie was a nickname that her dad had called and now her step-dad. She like her step-dad but can’t stand him. She was too young to remember her dad but Ronnie was one thing that stuck with her. ”I prefer you don’t call me Ronnie. I know you said it couple of times in the text and I didn’t want to correct you on there. You can call me Nic, V or whatever you want. Just not Ronnie.” Veronica didn’t want to sound like a bitch by correcting him. She looked at him from corner of her eye to see his reaction and familiarize with his feature. His wavy hair was to this shoulder, beard was shaped perfectly which was a bonus for her and killer smile. She found herself looking at him more and more from corner of her eye when lights were flash or fall over them.
She laughed, whole heartedly she did on the mention of her friends. If he only knew how insane her friends her. ”Shouldn’t first toast be to us not my friends?” She turned her face towards him and raised her eyebrow. Of all things, he wanted to toast her friends. Her wolf friends who are huge compare to him. She listened to him carefully, to her surprise he didn’t work out like he used to and used to surf. One thing that she had admired so far about him was he picked his family over his passion. Damn, that’s another point. What the hell, where is the dirt on him? I hope he isn’t a serial killer. Scary thoughts invaded her brain and she looked away from him to watch the road ahead. Welcome to Port Angeles board came and she sighed in relief. She couldn’t take it being in small car with someone for that long. ”I do know that store, I didn’t know it was yours. That’s why you were around La Push that night. Did you really think I would call or text you if you just wrote a number on palm?” She questioned him. Curious as to what he has to say about that.
She wanted to groan at the speed limit Rafael was driving, she wanted to get out of the car as soon as possible. Pretty boy? Is he full of himself? Veronica took very strength she had and not open her mouth at that comment. She would never go out with a guy based on appearances/ ”No it wasn’t appearance nor the fact that you’re buffed. Reason I accepted this date is because I wanted to prove myself that I wasn’t defective and I still have it in me to date.” She didn’t tell him whole truth nor it was a lie. This was her first date in ages; she and Axel never really went on a date and this was her first official date with a man she doesn’t feel attracted to. ”Restaurant will be on your left side.” Veronica turned off her gps on her phone, turned on silence and dnd mode and placed it back in her purse. Soon they will be there and she can’t wait to eat. Her stomach growled loudly, making her blush. ”Excuse me.” She murmured, leave it to her stomach to make such noise in middle of a car ride.

Raf nodded, taking note she didn't like the name Ronnie. It wouldn't call her that anymore, she wasn't much of a Ronnie anyway. She was beautiful for such a plain nickname. He studied her face. She had spent the time putting on makeup but she didn't need it. She was stunning without it."V it is then."He didn't want to start the date off on the wrong foot but it seemed like he already had something else wrong. He had suggested that their first toast should be to her friends and even that she corrected him on. "You got me there I guess.I was going to toast them being occupied enough to give us tonight." He was trying to be smooth. He knew she was nothing like the last girl he was with, Veronica actually had a brain. She was very intelligent, he could tell that from even the small intentions they were having.
He was in luck when she mentioned she knew the antique store, maybe now she knew he spent most of his days there she hopefully would stopped by sometime. "It's actually my Uncle's store I have taken it to for him, he's very sick but he needed someone's help so here I am." The mention of him walking up to her on the beach and writing his number on her hand made him put his face in his palm. "You know, I really didn't expect anything at all but when I walked across the sand and saw your face I couldn't resist trying. I'm sorry if it embarrassed you in front of your friends. You know that wasn't the first night I saw you right?" The first night he had seen Veronica was at the strip club she was having so much fun with her friends that he didn't want to interfere.
As they drove close down toward the restaurant, hearing Veronica's response to accepting his date made his face scrunch up a bit. "Defective? You're far from it. For one you call me out everytime I put my foot in my mouth. I think you're very confident, and it might be the best date I have ever had." She pointed out the restaurant and as he pulled up to park her stomach grumbled. Her face reddened a bit. It was nothing to be embarrassed about. "No worries only mean you enjoy your food more."Parking the Jeep, he got out and walked around to open the door for her.
The sound of her stomach reminded him he'd have to call Claude to make sure that rat from hell would be out of his place before he got back. " I just have to make a quick call. "There is an evil chihuahua locked in my guestroom. Claude asked me to sit when he was busy today but there was no dog. It's a demon."His eyes went wide, the little dog was a terror. He went into his contact list and called Claude. He got his voice mail. He left a brief message and tucked his phone back into his pocket. Holding out his had to help Veronica out.

Her stomach had mind of it own along with her hair. She was partly human at the end of the day and food was rather important to her. She’s a foodie at heart then a couch potato. She makes couch potato like look amazing. When he called her V, she didn’t feel butterflies or her heart warming like it did when Catcher or Axel said her name for the first time. There were other ways that would make her feel all gooey on the inside but that night was unexpected and can’t predict what will happen or how it would end. She gave up on hopes, controlling and letting herself be carefree. Even if that meant saying things that might end up her banging her head against a table.
Veronica listened to Rafael tell her about where he works and how his uncle has fallen ill. He moved closer so he can help him. Her heart melted on why he left his life to be stuck in cold, rainy state. ”I’m sorry to hear about your uncle. You’re a good man, Rafael and it takes courage to up and leave for family.” She watched him park his jeep, get out the car and open her door. She took his hand, moved her legs to the side of the door and came out of the car slowly and steady. When her feet touched the ground, her leg wobbled a little, she held on to Rafael’s hand tightly until she found her balance. She let go of his hand, fixed her dress from bottom while he made a call to his friend. When he mentioned chihuahua, she knew who he was talking about. That name shaking machine will not let anyone live their life peacefully. Why did Claude had to have that evil demon. She truly hated that dog with passion and she loves all animals so it makes it worse for her to hate something. ”I hate that dog with passion. I don’t know how Claude has that shaking machine. That tiny devil bit my friend’s toe and I swear I thought my friend’s boyfriend would kick it like a soccer but that didn’t happen.” She chuckled at the imagine of Xion kicking Blue and that dog just might come back for more.
She wrapped her hand around his arm and walked towards the restaurant. ”Oh? When was it first time we saw each other? I thought you would go for Natasha instead of me. Why is that?” Veronica was curious as to why he went for her and not her friend. Veronica had looked aloof that day and Natasha was this upbeat person. Veronica rolled her eyes when Rafael told her she wasn’t one. If only he knew her history and what she went through. When Veronica had found out about werewolves and being one for the first time, she was in denial and shocked; now if a human were to find out that there is this another world that’s filled with werewolves and vampires, they might not take it well. She wanted to tell him everything and hope that he would run away and forget about her. But that was far from It; Rafael looks like a person that might not but run towards it.
”How is this best date when it barely started? In case you haven’t noticed, I say things without thinking.” Veronica looked up at him as she spoke. She never cared of what others thought of her anymore. People were gonna talk one way or another so might as well give them to talk about. The door of the restaurant was open, she walked inside and told the hostess she had reservations for Veronica at 8. Hostess told her one moment while she went to check on if the table was ready or not.

Claude had been sitting on a roof in the restaurant district of Port Angeles all afternoon, he had carried a chair, an umbrella and a pair of binoculars up there with him. If he was going to be a spy might as well dress the part. He had been sitting as still as a statue all afternoon in a midnight black tuxedo. Times like this he wished he was a human, he could have just napped or let his mind slip away for a moment, waiting was always so boring. He got to a point of boredom where he began catching files and pulling off their wings and renaming them walks. Pulling out his phone,Claude had sent a few messages in group text before realizing Raf and sent him a message saying where Blue was and where the hide away key was. He must have finally been on their way.
Getting anxious, Claude kept walking back and forth pacing the roof waiting to see which restaurant they would be going to. He was soon startled by this phone ringing, he quickly scrambled to silence it, ignoring the call completely. He shook his head and realized he forgot the first rule of being a spy which was paying attention to your target. He had almost missed them heading to the Bella Italia. At least Italian restaurants had a large variety of food, so if he ordered a bunch and mixed them l around one would notice he wasn't eating.
He hopped down off the roof and peeked his head around the corner waiting for the hostess to guide them to their table. His next task of the evening was getting into the restaurant without reservations. Straightening up his bowtie, Claude made sure the unorthodox couple couldn't see him enter the restaurant. Taking someone at the door he pulled out his wallet and handed over a giant stack of cash before being led back to be shown a table. The first one wasn't good enough; he could see Raf and Veronica at all. He quietly picked out his own table and sat down holding a menu in front of his face to conceal himself enough to not be noticed by Raf. He was glad the restaurant reeked like garlic. It helped hide his smell well. Everyone knew shape shifters could smell well where garlic was involved. Pulling out a pen and paper Claude used his superior hearing waiting to take notes that he could use on his future date. That if he ever goes on one, he was so concentrated he didn't even hear the waiter walk up to take his order. Claude just told him to bring him one of everything and waved him off. He was hoping that soon they would say something interesting. As he waited he noticed they were both wearing purple. "Note to self wear matching outfits."

Bananarama turned out fine but somehow Claude told him that the merman had successfully persuaded Veronica to go on a date. The text had made his hands clammy, palms sweaty and he had stared at it in confusion as though it was a practical joke. Things always happened the way he hoped they wouldn’t; he was beginning to think he needed to manifest the laws of attraction as much as possible, something Feather would agree with.
Catcher went to the fridge; saw nothing that enticed his appetite and couldn’t find a single thing to do that would distract him from this knowledge. He was acting like either the girl going on the date or the guy trying to create a date and groaned. More texts came from Claude; he was going to do date research, he was going to the restaurant and then he sent him where it was. That accursed address now haunted him and he wanted to see what was going on, do his own research; it was almost petty. She’d leave with this man and then he’d bleed out; was that really the way he had to move on for the last time? He just needed to be normal, be calm, be everything he was not; he was not perfect and he tried but couldn’t get it right every time it came to Veronica. All the imaginations made it excruciating as the clock ticked; his timing for the entire date stressful and anxious. He had no idea if they would take a dog’s age to get there or get there at all but he didn’t ask Claude, who was probably spying already.
Changing, he was talking to himself attempting to dissuade his mind, his heart and this urge. This curiosity was like a cocaine diet, he would get a high from it; probably leave him red eyed in its own way to watch her fall in love with Rafael similar to how he had chanced on her with Axel. He replied Claude, letting him know he was coming but not indicating whether he would ever join him on his study indoors; he wondered if he could be the way he had been when he saw Veronica in the coffee shop with Axel. The last time he thought he’d ever see her; scars that didn’t heal. Heartless, thinking he would be dead soon; a ghost in a shell.
Drifting his mind back to Claude, he pictured the man in black tie, doing something completely unorthodox even for a high end place and he put on a white shirt unbuttoned at the collar and a dark blazer, with matching pants but left his hair the tousled mess it was. Even if he were to push it around, it would fall back in place without product. At least it had been trimmed recently so it was neater, forever long and short at the same time. It was good enough; he was not going on his own date so there was no reason to be outstanding. As long as his participation was minimal, he carried his clothes not the other way around; the prince of grunge formal.
He had added Cloud and Seth to the chat with Claude as they were fascinated and closer than ever before; their deranged gang. The last thing on his mind was what would happen if he told them he was going and he walked outside his house, mistakenly texting them all when it was meant to be for Claude. He threw the sheet off from his bike and started it, departing.
The restaurant was true to its reputation and namesake. He hadn’t eaten there because he didn’t want to go alone or with his weird brothers so it was interesting to see; before he gave points to Rafael, he wondered if Veronica had chosen it. For some stealth, he parked his vehicle away from the entrance and the open terrace that had customers but left it close enough to the entrance and walked across the zebra crossing. He stood on the opposite side of the street, looking toward it from around a corner, like a loitering delinquent as he tried to see through the large modern windows; all he noticed was Claude. His eyebrows raised, his eyes peeled and round as dinner plates, Claude embodied everything he had imagined, a regular double-o-seven; James Bond in the flesh. The only thing giving him away was his enthusiastic expression; the way he behaved was unburdened and alive like a man who was not on a spy mission. He wasn’t actively engaging with the hostess, the waiters and dismissively ordered what seemed like everything on the menu; was this even research for a date or research for a food critic? The whole table was slowly being filled with plates from appetizers onwards.
Catcher’s mouth dropped open, and he covered it lightly with his hand, rubbing up and down his face in exasperation; this was becoming a habit. He was sure that Rafael and Veronica would notice Claude and then the whole thing would fall apart but there was hope in his mind that it wouldn’t play out that way; Bond was seated in an exclusive corner on the other side of the room and he guessed Rafael would reserve a quaint window seat because those were the ones with the view everyone wanted, an exclusive reservation. But the reality was he just assumed the man would make the right plans if not all the plans in order to court her. He both prayed he was right and that he was wrong; half of him snickering internally that Rafael was neither smooth nor quick. Compiled from Candi and what he had seen him do with Veronica at the party, he was forming his own biased opinion even if he would never act upon it or talk about it. This was the only thing he allowed for himself because he believed he would never sabotage Veronica’s future in any way, a small consolation.
Finally his eyes landed on a tall, darkly tanned man with long hair and a full beard, facing a bedroom eyed Veronica. They were matching in an odd un-coordinated way. He almost stopped breathing, she was barely dressed in this cut out dress that he had never seen her wear; he had never seen her wear anything with skin besides a mini skirt and he was appalled she was pulling out all the stops for this guy. His brain was going into a coma, he was slowly being euthanized. She was interested in this hunk of muscle even when she acted like she wasn’t and he was semi furious, semi confused; too disturbed to figure out if he wanted to cheer this man on for his small success of being her type or if he wanted to burn the whole place down. He really couldn’t fathom what possessed her and yet he felt empathy for her to find happiness; he cared for her enough since day one that letting her go was true love she would never feel, never know she had. In many ways, he never knew why he had a chance with her when she loved all these men who were nothing like him; it left him with faith that he had done something right, that he held the most special place but no way to confirm it.
Waves of emotions settled and he forgot he was lurking, he just watched her in her glory, wishing he knew what she was thinking and what was being said between them while regretting he ever came to witness this. Even if love was temporary, his endured and this might be the last time it ever hurt him; a potential farewell for that life. Did he have one last thing to tell her tonight or did this break the spell?
The phone in his pocket vibrated and he checked it, hesitant to respond but it was Claude and he looked up to see his friend looking around, expecting him or someone; he had to explain specifically, the way Claude always took things with excitement. His thumbs hovered, indecisive as he waited long enough the screen locked again and he could see his reflection, wondering if he needed to look within and put it all to a rest. The old him had walked away in style, this time the question of what his life had on the line obstructed that.

When Veronica grabbed his hand his heart skipped a beat, she was a little unsteady on her feet and he held on tight to brace her. He could tell it had either been a while since she wore he high heels or maybe she never wore shoes this tall before. When she had steady herself she let go of his hand. He watched as she straightened out her dress. It was very flattering and hugged her body in all the right places. He could keep his eyes off her.
He could hold onto his laughter as Veronica mentioned not liking Claude's dog, besides his odd friend he didn't know anyone who did. That little demon had ruined most of his day keeping him trapped on the kitchen table. "Honestly I thought about kicking the dog too but Claude wouldn't forgive me. He's an odd dude but he cares about his friends." Raf had always been treated well by Claude ever since he met him. Once in a while he calls him such odd and random nickname but the guy is cool in his books.
A smile danced across his face as gabed a hold of his arm and Veronica asked the first time he had seen her he almost didn't want to mention it in case it would be too embarrassing he just stroked his beard devilishly. "Well, there was this night once. I was picking up some costumes at the club, Claude had rented them out but I needed to pick them up for dry cleaning. Your hair was longer, but you were laughing and your friends. You looked at me for a second and you haven't left my thoughts since." He looked away knowing it again he probably had said something wrong and she found a reason to correct him or something. There had been other things that went down that night he didn't want to bring up to spoil the evening. He had seen her friend but Veronica was just so captivating, she had something special about her that could light up a room." Why not Natasha? Well because she is not you."
They walked arm in arm up to the door and he loved that she was full of so many questions she would for sure keep him thinking tonight especially if she questioned everything he said." So far it's the best date, any moment I can spend with you is great V." He meant it he be dying for some time alone with the beautiful young woman.
They stood at the door waiting to be taken inside and it didn't get long until you were escorted back to the table. The whole place smelt like well toasted garlic bread. And the lights were dinner to set a calming mood He pulled the chair out for her and then sat down himself. A glass of water was poured for them and he quickly drank it down. Choking a bit as it went down the wrong way He covered his mouth eyes wide and shook his head. " ugh.. I can't even drink water without feeling embarrassed.byoubjustncant see me blushingunder all this hair "

Veronica chuckled to the fact that no one liked Blue the demon dog. She knew she had judged the man through the text and for being an smartass at Claude’s party. Truth be told, she wasn’t ready for a serious relationship as she wants to take time to herself and learn what it means to love yourself and be selfish. Cutting her hair was part of many things she plans on changing about herself. ”You are scared if that shaking machine? A small thing versus a giant human like yourself? HA.” Oh this was getting better and better for her. She imagined big hunky man on stop of kitchen counter while blue barked, growled and ran in circles. She leaned against him when she lost her balance while laughing too hard. When she stopped laughing she really noticed his outfit, dark blue jeans, black t-shirt and purple blazer and it looked good on him.
Hostess showed them their table which was against the window and placed menus in middle of the table. Veronica looked out the window and for a brief second her heart skipped a beat when she thought she saw Catcher. She had taken every word of his into consideration and it meant a lot to her when he opens her about what he feels. All she wants for Catcher is to be happy. Once upon a time, Veronica was dreaming about her and catcher being a couple and going on numerous dates however that dream stayed a dream. There was part of her that ached for him and his sadness, she wish she could vanquish. More and more she thinks about her and catcher, more she will stay broken. She blinked and looked down, telling herself that she imagining things and there was no way he would come for something so small. Veronica knew he was in good hands with Candi and prayed that she keeps him happy and he does fall in love with her. There wasn’t going to be Catcher and Veronica in this lifetime, maybe the next?
Veronica thanked the hostess, placed her clutch on the table and slid onto her chair. ”What a gentleman” She smiled at Rafael. She hated when guys never pulled their lady’s chair, opened and closed the door for them, it was little things she missed and enjoyed. She had heard this restaurant was beautiful and their food was delicious which made her want to try it in person. Originally she was going to come to the restaurant alone and enjoy the ambience, good and the drink. She opened menu as she waited for the waiter to attend them. Veronica did eat like there was no tomorrow however she eats from kids menu as she gets full easily. She had decided on zucchini noodle with basil pesto pasta and she paired it with Moscato d'Asti, Nivole. It didn’t take long for the waitress to come by to introduce herself as Jess who will be taking care of them for the evening. Veronica already knew what she wanted but wasn’t sure about Rafael. She told Jess to give them few minutes to decide on the food and bring a bottle of Moscato d'Asti, Nivole for both of them.
Veronica set her menu on the side of the table and looked at Rafael with concern in her eyes. ”Slow down. Are you okay?” Veronica got up from her chair and went to rub his back. She found that rubbing person’s back when they’re choking on water, helps it soothe them and the windpipe. Shen she knew he was feeling better, she went back to her chair and placed napkin over her lap. She took small sips of water and opened her mouth to talk, ”It happens, nothing to be embarrassed about. You saw me naked at a strip club when I was pissed drunk with my friends? Oh how wonderful.” At first Veronica didn’t want to know what happened that night but as soon as she found out, she felt comfortable in her skin and owns up to what she did. ”Was this love at first sight for you?” She joked lightly even though her insides were screaming at her. Before she would have never believed love at first sight but after being imprinted on another person, she wouldn’t be surprised if love at first sight did happen. Jess came back to their table and asked if they were ready to order. Veronica looked at Rafael to see if he was ready or not.

Cloud was smoking outside when he saw the group text buzz; it was between the four of them guys. The cigarette was doing nothing but the words he read definitely did something. He thought he was seeing things for a moment when he read that Claude needed to do date research on the beach man and Hula girl. He never stopped calling them that and he chuckled, pursing the fag in his mouth as he did so.
There was an address and he wondered if Catcher would read it; he could almost feel what was coming and his own curiosity was piqued out of concern and disdain for both Hula girl and beach man’s decision. He did expect the large guy would never stop hounding her and he almost coughed at what befell her; his stalker love. His friend was his other twin; it didn’t matter if they weren’t considered best friends both ways, he considered him to be his homeboy and times like this was what he was best for. Cloud went inside the shop and grabbed his hoodie where his keys were and went to his heavy weight bike. His clients were done for the day, and his break was ending into the night of free time but this took precedence over going to the club or seeing his band friends. It took him a minute to search up the location since he didn’t venture into that part of the city during operating hours and had never noticed this restaurant before. He was amused that it could either be a disastrous posh date or a homely common one; neither of which he could explain but both pedestrian, and he knew in his heart that meant a dead end.
Taking a big drag, he extinguished the cigarette on the top of the public bin, leaving a black charred circle that was only dust and tossed it in. His bike was loud, he was guessing that Catcher would hear it coming from a block away and would know his presence but he wasn’t dumb; he was going to park it far away and then see if he could find his friend to scare him. Just seeing him lost in his own paranoia, he would have landed on a great show. Cloud was also going to be there for him, whatever happened, whatever stupid thing they had to do; he was not the one who would stop it, he was the firestarter.
Following his plans, he walked around the back alley parking towards the front of the street, but also stayed on the opposite side to see the restaurant; it was fancy and he made a face, indicating that it impressed him but also faltered his desire to enter. This was not his typical scene but if it had been his own date, he would oblige whole heartedly. Rounding an edge, he almost walked straight into Catcher who was staring at his phone; not what he had anticipated or hoped for. It took him a minute to see into the restaurant windows and check if they were just early or something else had taken a turn so his friend was not focused on who he had come here to see. Veronica and Rafael were sitting there, blissful and he wondered what there was to see on the phone that was more important.
”Did you see that? Did you see what she’s wearing? I can’t believe they’re out on a date, how did this happen!?” He was gesturing to their target couple who had somehow read each other’s minds and matched their attire; shocked by Hula girl's daring outfit. Skipping the pleasantries, he didn’t even say hey; he was hyped from seeing with his own eyes what they all thought would never happen based on group chat. All the same, Cloud was dressed for the occasion, a different idea in mind without really changing much of himself during a regular day tattooing. A cross of a ghetto rapper and a stereotypical gangster; he was a G. Diamonds in his teeth kind of brother. The only thing he forgot was some sort of mask and he pulled out a paisley bandana hanging from a chain out of his pocket to fold it into a tight small kerchief around his spiked up blonde hair. His hood and wife beater were loosely hanging on his body, exposing tattoos and jewelry, as well as a gun on his hip when he moved. He was licensed to carry so there was nothing he worried about, and he didn’t really need it; it was for show, it was for humans since he couldn’t just turn in broad daylight. He had knuckle dusters for the exact same dramatization but big, shiny guns had a whole other badass reputation. Somehow it felt normal to be able to whip out a hand gun instead though, his fans loved this persona and so did he; it was gangsta. This was baby Cloud from the hood which was a little uncomfortable for Catcher, who was not flashy yet also carried a gun, always hiding it in a holster strap around his shoulders so it was unseen under his random jackets and coats.
That was no fun for Cloud but it was cool to see when he did catch a glimpse; he understood that one of the pair of pistols he owned was scrubbed so there was caution in exposure. He could never tell when he had a weapon and when he didn’t, that was the point. His train of thought ended as looked his kindred spirit up and down. This was unusual attire, but he looked like he walked out of some gothic vibe, depressing steampunk movie even though every piece he wore was normal and he pulled it off, just dark like his mood and his hair was disheveled defying forces of nature. It creeped him out to see him this way, but it was closer to what he was adamantly imagining him to be like in high society, an ear studded with a carat.
He leaned over, taller and overshadowing the phone to see nothing so he pressed it, revealing the message from Claude about whether Catcher was going inside. That sounded like a brilliant ostentatious idea but he eyed his friend, solemnly guessing that wasn’t happening anytime soon.”You not trying to back off are you? Why don’t you just go in there, drag her away… then yay? Look at the food, let’s just eat. Fuck them. Or we’ll fuck up whatever you wanna fuck up?” After the little rejoice of a yay, he was acutely aware that he seemed like an overstepping, overprotective, frustrated older brother and it scared him. In his head, he believed all Catcher had to do was go to Veronica, profess something the way he always gets away with things and then she’d magically run out with him and the whole thing would be a match made by Cloud heaven; boom, legendary. Then he’d write a hit song about it. Go multi-platinum.
The date didn’t make him feel angry or anything at all aside from amusement he repressed from showing his friend; he could see from the corner of his eye Veronica patted Raf’s back and he shifted to block it from Catcher’s view, lingering in front of him. The mention of food was just an ice breaker and truthfully, because he could eat like a beast right then and had only curbed the hunger with a bottle of soda. It was no help that Claude was surrounded by delicacies and didn’t need to touch them as a vampire; Cloud wanted to finish it all for him or it would be a gigantic waste.
However, he knew his friend would never do things the way he imagined; they were rolling stones, old school. His sentences were disjointed suggestions, trying to pinpoint something they could do or steer this in a direction that was productive; everything a barrage of questions. ”Or we go to the… stripclub?” He knew Catcher wasn’t a fan of the strip club, never minding whether Candi was there or not; he was just a brooding, complex, righteous fallen angel. But after he had met Candi, he discovered that her words outweighed everyone else’s to Catcher and all Cloud did was look at her pretty face, futile in making sense of their relationship just like all Catcher’s other relationships. He had no idea what was going on there, making little sense even compared to the one with the pixie. Maybe all that was making himself want to mess stuff up… Cloud couldn’t handle it; he didn’t even want to ask what it must have been like for the boy in high school. Even the thoughts of fucking up something seemed far out there but it was worth a shot; unleashing was Cloud’s forte, he was that perfect bachelor party organizer and the best man. The real devil you couldn’t turn away.

Veronica got out of her seat and patted him on the back. At least she didn't want him to choke to death on the first date.He didn't know what was worse, choking on his water Veronica thinking he saw her naked .Raf shook his head at Veronica, she had thought when he saw her at the club she was naked. Actually she was fully dressed when he was there before the show even started. "Well sorry to break it to you V but you were fully dressed and if it was love at first sight?" He looked around the room and the restaurant was actually pretty busy.there was this one table in the corner that seemed to be ordering a lot of food and realized it was probably a restaurant critic.
Their waiter whose name tag read the name Jess had returned to take their order,"I think tonight I'll try the mushroom ravioli." He smiled at Jess and handed over his menu. Knowing Veronica would order for herself. He just sat quietly and waited for her to be done. He unbuttoned his jacket to feel more comfortable and leaned in his chair getting a little more comfortable. Then chairs weren't made for a guy his size to sit comfortably. Not wanting to make it obvious he placed his elbows on the table leaning his chin in his hands. "So have you been to this place before or is it your first time?"
