As the thick cloud broke momentarily, the sun pierced through, spreading light across the whole river. Axel dived into the brightened water, leaving a splash behind him. ................................................................................................................ The water was still, not a single ripple. Axel stood on the river bank, staring over at the little village known as La Push, on the other side of the bank stood three men. Each of them aging rapidly, their faces wrinkled until eventually, each of them disappeared. In their place stood a group of young boys. All at once the boys began to transform. Their bodies no longer human, but of a dog. Wolf.
Axel continued to stare out across the river, watching each of their faces, the confusion they expressed. He turned away, knowing that this change could ruin each of the boys lives. His reflection in the water began changing. He himself was a wolf. Yet he was alone, not like the others, they were joined by an unknown bond. He was the lone wolf. .............................................................................................................. Axel looked up at the sky, all of the clouds were breaking now. He was back at the river alone. He had gotten used to the fact he would inevitably be alone, but being back in La Push, he had met new people, descendants of his dear friends and he had no one that his legacy would pass on to. He hoped for friendship back in his home town, but would he be accepted. That was the question Axel could not stop thinking of.
He lay back in the water and just waited for some sign. He just needed to know he was making the right decision coming back to La Push.

It's been forever since she ever talked to anyone. She was tired and needed someone to see. No it's not Catcher, but Axel. She doesn't know but lately, he was all she could ever think about. Either it was his absence or something else, but she just needs to be around him. It felt like it was forever not to see him or talk to him. She gets a feeling when she sees Axel that she has for Catcher, but isn't too sure if it the same thing. And she needed to know what the feeling is.
Being home alone meant that she has nothing better to do than sleep and sit around thinking something to do. She got out of the house, taking in the fresh air in and sighed. Veronica doesn't know where she'll find Axel but she's certain where he would be at. She walked into the forest, enough for her to take off her pant and t-shirt and tie around her ankle then phase. Before she knew it, she was a purple furred wolf. It felt great as she ran through the woods to the Quilieute River. What she really loves about her wolf form is she gets to run and feel the wind. Veronica was surprised that no one was a wolf yet, well phased since she couldn't hear anyone thoughts. Just in matter of seconds, she was at the Quilieute River, where she smelled Axel's scent. She didn't want to phase yet, she wants to give him a surprise. Even though she knows that she won't since he would probably smell her.
Veronica walked slowly where Axel was, she nudged him with her nose and smiled. It was a wolfy smile but it was the best she could do since she's a wolf. Water was great, she looked around the place where she remembered when she met Axel for the first time. And kissed within few hours of being together. Veronica looked at Axel, trying hard not to tackle him or something.

He sighed as he climbed out of the water onto the river bank. Axel laid back staring up at the sky, he felt the need to phase, to feel the breeze through his fur.
As his head rested against the grass, the breeze picked up, the scent he had some instant attraction to was coming in his direction. Veronica! He continued to lie there, battling with himself to not get up and run to her.
Veronica's footsteps got closer and closer, until finally her wet nose nudged Axel. He looked up with a cheesy grin on his face, happy to see her. The last time he saw her was in Port Angeles, and he made that awkward for himself by kissing her the night before. Although he'd only met her that same night. "Heya, V!" Still smiling, he stared into Veronica's eyes, below her eyes lay a smile similar to his own. "...How are you?" Shy, but happy, Axel embraced Veronica in a brief hug, a wet hug. He shook his wet hair in Veronica's wolfy face, laughed and lay back down. As he was still chuckling slightly he managed to grasp the words... "Care to join me?"

The weather was great, it was rare to see sun in La Push, better yet in Washington. Well some part that is. And it was probably the first time since she saw a sun since she phased. It was all thanks to Embry and Catcher. If she wasn't there in first place, then she would never have the best night with Catcher, get drunk, meet Axel, and have the best time running in the woods. She has to admit that it was the best thing that happened to her since she has arrived in La Push, other than meeting new people like Catcher, Ellie, Axel, and Xion and of course her childhood friend, Natasha. Even though both of them have horrible past, they have moved on, well that's what Veronica saw whenever she looks at Natasha or is around her.
She wasn't expecting Axel to be shy around her, after all they're friends. No, great friends. Seing him smile, made her day a whole lot better. That's what she loves about Axel is his cheesy grin of his and gets little playful with her. She guesses it was because he wants to see everyone happy. Staring at Axel's eyes, she could do that all day and just lose herself here. I'd love to. She thought even though she knew that he wouldn't hear her. Veronica nodded and ran into the woods where she phased back to human wore her tight jeans and plain t-shirt and walked where Axel was and sat down next to him. Somehow it was perfect for her to sit there with Axel, like she belonged there. Veronica grinnd at Axel and hugged him, since she didn't get to hug him when she was in other form.
"I'm great now. How about you?" She asked looking at the water smiling then back at Axel. Veronica placed her head on his shoulder, and looked ahead where she could hear couple of sounds that weren't the water crashing.

Even when times were difficult for Axel, back in his prime he knew he could always rely on his friends for guidance. Not knowing too many people in La Push these days, was something that worried him greatly. He loved being friends with Veronica, even more, when he was around her, it made him feel wanted or needed... or something. Veronica's smile, her laugh... her eyes, they all made Axel's day. Though Veronica could satisfy his need of friendship substantially - with excess. He still wanted to make others happy, and wanted them to repay the same thing.
Veronica's eyes glistened in the mere bit of sunlight Washington rarely had. Within minutes she had disappeared, but he eyes remained an image in Axel's mind. As she ran into the woods, phasing into her human self, Axel suddenly got happier than he already was. When she sat next to him, dressed simply yet beautifully, Axel's heart raced. He knew it shouldn't, he didn't want it to, but he couldn't help it. The hug from Veronica made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. What is this? Some high school crush? Why am I getting so worked up? She is beautiful, smart and so interesting, but.... Axel couldn't think of anything bad to say about her, not a single tiny hair was out of place.
"I'm better than you could ever know." He answered in a whisper, whilst pulling Veronica down to his laying down level. "Do you believe in fate, or destiny, or anything like that? Being a wolf who has the ability to imprint on a certain someone makes me think so." Axel asked, his cheerful tone apparent. With his one arm behind Veronica's head, supporting her. His other arm gripped Veronica's hand.

By now, she figured that she count on Axel to be there for her. Not that the pack isn't; it was just different when she's around Axel. Like she gets the mix feelings of love, nervous, and happiness. Veronica was still lost on what to call the feeling towards Axel. And she was happy to find him there at the river, where they first met. She never thought that they would become friends that quick or sit there and watch the sun as it shines on everything in the forest, water, animals and the sky itself was clear. Axel's body temperature was warmer then hers, she doesn't know why but it was. Like on other pack members, especially guys, there body temperature are hotter than hers.
For the first time since her phase, she's getting Viatmin D from the sun. She closed her eyes and let her skin absorb the sun as she listened to Axel's breathing, water rushing down the stream, and little wind that blew her hair now and then. Veronica smiled as Axel said that he was great, and opened her eyes to look at him as she placed her hand on his warm cheek and looked at Axel in his eyes before kissing his cheek.
Just as she was going to place her head on his shoulder, everything went blank, she couldn't hear anything, only Axel and Veronica were the only one there. The feeling which she was going crazy for naming it, there it was. Everything about Axel that brought her closer to him, his eyes, his voice, his personalities, charm, and just about everything that she could remember him. It was crazy, she knew it herself. Because she thought she loved Catcher, but in truth she was in love with Axel. He was everything to her, now; her life.
So this is how it feels like when I imprint. This is what Tash and Sam went to. She thought to herself happily. Veronica heard part of the question that Axel ask, making her blush a little. "I do, actually." She whispered as she looked at Axel and intertwined her fingers with his. "Do you?" She couldn't help it but to whisper to him. Everything was going great, so she thought.

The water splashed into Axel’s face, pulling him from his daze. If life could be like this forever, he wouldn’t mind it at all. With Veronica at his side he felt unstoppable. The quiet sounds of Veronica’s breathing, the rustle of woodland animals behind them and the surprising sunlight in La Push made Axel realize that this day, would be a great day. A single cloud appearing in the sky, Axel stared at it, trying to make something of it – His attempt unsuccessful. Veronica’s warm breath on his neck distracted him too much. The light breeze, brushed over his body and through his hair. As his half naked body was still wet from swimming, that gentle breeze helped dry him off, that and his extraordinary body temperature.
“I’ve been thinking a lot lately, about whether I should stay or go. My life was here, but now it’s everybody else’s life now. I don’t know if I’m needed here. You make me feel needed, but I don’t know about all of the other’s - Natasha seems ok with me. It’s just, I feel like... I’m intruding.” Axel spoke softly, his voice a mere whisper. Veronica placed her slightly cooler hand on Axel’s face, stared into his eyes and reached up to kiss his cheek, as she did so, Axel shivered slightly and smile instantly placed itself across his cheeks. All Axel wanted to do was kiss her back, but he refrained. It wasn’t his place to do something like that... again. He focused his mind toward that single cloud once again. This time, he could make out something... a heart, just a plain love heart.
As Axel asked his question and Veronica answered, she intertwined their finger so that their hand was now one. “I do, but I also believe that in our case, imprinting will make a connection stronger, but that you don’t need to imprint - you can work on that strong connection like... humans and we can still be strong. Emphriam thought it made you stronger when you imprinted, but I think you can work on that love to be equal with an imprintees. ” He replied in a whisper.
“V, do you want to come with me? Swimming again or I could just lie with you.”

One thing was for sure that she didn't know about Axel, that was if he felt the same way about her. Veronica was debating whether or not to tell him that she imprinted on him. Though she probably guessed that he knew since he's older than her and had more experience. Well more emperience than anyone in the pack. She doesn't want anyone to come in between her and her feelings for Axel, it'll be there forever. Veronica couldn't tell how much happy she was with herself or anyone. For the first time, she's happy in her life and she couldn't tell anyone about it just yet. It was that she going have to keep it away from people til she tells Axel. She wants to be the first one to tell Axel about her feelings.
Looking at Axel, she notice that he was looking something else in the sky. She looked at the sky, noticing what he was looking at. A cloud. She didn't notice that when she looked at the sky few minutes ago. Veronica smiled and looked at Axel as he started talking about how he isn't sure if he wants to leave or stay. Talking about leaving, was one of the subjects she rather leave out. She just hates it when people she knows leave and never keep in touch with her or anyone else. She'll be shattered if he leaves. Everything would be gone, and she'll be a different person then she is. What will she do if he leaves? Axel was her life now and no one can separate her from him. What scared her the most was the fact that Axel might leave for good and won't return or someone falling in love with him. She shook her head lightly to get the thought away from her mind.
"I don't want you to leave. Tasha and I need you. More importantly I do." She doesn't want to sound very selfish person but she had to say it. It was the best for Axel to know that she needed him with her. If he leaves, then she might just end up following him or leave La Push for good. Even though she can't stay away the feelings she has for him. She felt like crying but she fought the tears only because she doesn't want him to see her cry. It was bad enough that Catcher had seen her cry that because she was drunk and she found out that she was a wolf. But the story is different and different person.
Veronica sat there and listened to Axel talk. It was nice to listen to him talk and his heartbeat. It wasn't quiet but she still can hear it. As he asked another question, she smiled and nodded. "What are you planning?" She asked. Axel surprises her every moment, even though she knows him well but it just makes her happy to see that he'll be there for her.

“You don’t want me to leave?” The words that escaped from Veronica’s mouth somewhat surprised Axel. He had always had feelings for Veronica since he had arrived back in Forks, but because of his age and due to the fact that Veronica loved Catcher had always left him feeling guilty. Although he had kissed her once, twice, more, he never understood if she kissed him back. Hearing her say ‘I need you’, slightly put things in perspective for him. Axel had never experienced love nor affection, but he had always witnessed it. He could recognise the signs though.
Axel’s thoughts became overrun with images of their previous kisses, each one firing a different emotion into his head. “V, you know the place I took when we first met? I go back there every night, just making sure it stays untouched by anyone but us. Since that first night, you’ll all I ever think about. You seem to be all I need to keep me going through the day.” He hesitated momentarily and rolled over slightly, so that their eyes were level. “Forgive me for this...” Axel placed his right hand on the lower of her back and pulled her in slowly, his breaths became longer and he steadily neared his lips to hers.... “Tell me to stop. I need to be told or I won’t be able to.”

Sitting with Axel was something that she craved for a long time. For the first time, since what happened to her in the past, she felt happy and her life is full. Not completely but she's happy to have Axel with her---in her life. Despite the past kisses that they kissed, they were different and each one had something behind it. She wasn't sure if Axel feels the same way about her as she does to him. Veronica needed to know and needed to tell him that he's the one that she wants to spend his life with. So what if he is older than her? She loves him and that matters to her. As much as she wanted to tell Axel that, every blood cell in her body kept telling her not to say anything about that. Veronica wanted to fight that but in it she keeps losing her faith in actually telling him that. She just gave up and will wait when the time is right, til then she's just going to do what's best for her---spend time with Axel as much as she can. During her patrols she might have to think about something else other than Axel and the memories that they spent together. She was madly in love with him, didn't care about what people thought. All she cared about is the fact that she's happy when she's around Axel.
Since Veronica told Axel that she had feelings to wato wardscher when they first met, she thought about actually telling him that there isn't feelings to wards Catcher anymore. Yes she did have somewhat a crush to wards him but seeing him close to other girls she couldn't take it. Veronica needed someone mature and someone that would actually make her happy, someone like----Axel. Axel's perfect for Veronica whether Axel sees it or not. Veronica stared into Axel's eyes when he blurted out the question to her answer. How can she tell him that she needs him more than anything else in her life? How can she say that she imprinted on him? How can she say that she's madly in love him? What would happen if she opens her mouth? These questions were like the death ray if she says anything to Axel. When Veronica had the nerves and the faith to open her mouth she talked. "No. I don't want you to leave. You belong here, in La Push, and with---" Veronica caught herself before she actually say 'me' to him. It took courage for her to stop herself in middle of the sentence. Veronica turned her gaze to wards the water and criss-crossed her legs in front of her. She, then, couldn't face him anymore. It was just hard to resist everything about Axel but she had to.
She was scared that if she told him everything about her life then he won't like her. Veronica doesn't want that, she'll be shattered if Axel just left one day without telling her anything. Her life would stand still. Hearing about the place that Axel took her to when they first met, she remembered everything. They shared their first kiss and had best time. Veronica turned to gaze at Axel as he talked how he would go back there just to check no one touched it. 'Since that first night, you’ll all I ever think about.' Hearing that she was awe struck. Veronica knew that Axel felt the same about her as she did about him. That made her happy. "How would I ever forget that? That was the best place I ever visited. It's a special place for both of us. Every night I would think about our place and just thinking about it I would fall asleep. And every dream that I have it's related to you and the place." How could Veronica forget about the place? It's the place that had everything to it and it was perfect because Axel was the one that showed it to her. That night was perfect for Veronica and she would cherish that memory every day and til the day she dies.
Feeling Axel's warm hand on her lower back, pulling her towards him and whispered to her about forgiving, she didn't understand. Veronica looked into Axel's eyes, as if she was searching his soul. Her breaths were steady while her heart was pondering against her chest like crazy. Veronica was so close to Axel that she could feel his warm breaths against the skin of her face, sent chill down her spine and sent butterflies in her stomach. Their lips were only inches away, she knew what was going to happen in matters of seconds or minutes. "Kiss me." Her words were merely a whisper and didn't want to say it again. She hoped that Axel knew what she wanted. Veronica placed her hand on his neck and closed her eyes.
