Kaden had been in need of some air. Things were getting stressful with the news that his dad had found out where he was living at now. Apparently, he was on his way right now to come see him. He didn't exactly want the man to come up here, but seeing as how he was already halfway here, in a car nonetheless, what could he do? He could run again, but that wouldn't prove anything. Kaden found a driftwood tree and sat down. He was looking out over the clear sky and at the ocean waters, wondering what could be in store for the weeks to come. The last time he had seen his father replayed in his mind....
-flashback-
That is IT! I'm sick of this shit! You want money, go get a job. I am done giving you all of mine! he had yelled as he ran to his room. His whole body was trembling he was so mad. He had no idea where his anger had come from. Probably the fact that his dad was constantly drunk. Or the fact that even though he had a 3.6 GPA and was in the top 10 of his senior class he had decided he wanted to take a year off and start college later. He was never good enough for his dad. He worked at the only fast food joint in town as a manager, which was actually saying something considering he was only 18. He worked overnights, and slept in between school and work. He had been functioning for almost a year on about 4 hours of sleep a day. As he slammed is door, his dad was right behind him. Kaden...open this damn door right now! While you live under my roof you will live under my rules! You owe it to me, you little son of a bitch! It's your rent! he had yelled. Kaden was sick of giving his money over to his dad all the time. He barely had enough to cover the insurance on his car, much less maintenace and gas. His dad had broken his door down, and was yelling at him again. Kaden didn't catch any of it, his anger was peaked. Suddenly he felt like he was being ripped apart. He was looking down on his dad, which never had happened before. His dad was well over 5 inches taller than him. Kaden had phased, in his bedroom. He had no idea what the hell was going on with him. Where this had come from. He sat down, confused as hell.
-back to present-
It hadn't been long after that Kaden had left and headed for Washington. He had heard that he had family in a little Indian Reservaion up here named La Push. So, for the last few months, he had been here. Trying to make sense of everything. He found out what triggers the gene to cause him to change. There must have been vampires where he lived. In freaking Texas of all places. Here he was, sitting on the beach, with his beloved '71 Chevelle SS sitting not 20 feet away, that he was able to clear his mind and really think about things. It might be a good thing that he was coming for a visit. It might end in disaster. Only time would tell.

Lexie was tired of sitting at the house waiting on her cousins to have time to spend with her. They were always busy and running off together. Lexie had come to LaPush to spend the summer with her favorite cousin, Quil and he was never around. She knew that something was up but she was not sure of what is was. She decided that she need to get some air and think about what she was going to do. She decided to take a walk on the beach and clear her head. Summer was drawing to an end and she knew that her mother was expecting her to go to college, but she did not want to leave the reservation. Lexie was happy being here and didn't want to leave. She knew that she could go to Seattle for college and come home on the weekends but that was not the same as being there all the time.
She was walked along the beach, kicked rocks when she noticed him sitting on the driftwood. She knew that he was not someone that she knew, but she figured she would introduce herself. "Um, hello there. Are you new to the reservation? I don't think that I have met you before. I am Alexandria Lightfeather, but you can call my Lexi." She said to him as she walked up to him and held out her hand.
Kaden looked up at the girl walking towards him. He got up when she got close to him, and extended his hand towards hers. My name is Kaden, and yeah, I'm fairly new around here. You're Lexi? I haven't really noticed you either. But I haven't been around much. He shook her hand then withdrew his own. She seemed nice. He didn't get any of the weird vibes he caught from some of the people around here off of her. He brushed his hair back behind one ear and smiled at her. So, what is there to do around here? I haven't really seen much of La Push except the beach and my rent-house. I'm dying for something fun to do. he said. He wasn't trying to imply a date or anything, but looking for a suggestion.

Lexi smiled at him as he introduced himself to her. "I am not from LaPush, I am from the Mekeh reservation." She said to him. "I am just spending the summer with my cousin, here." She finished as he asked about something to do. She laughed lightly in her breezing style. "There is not much to do in LaPush. You have the beach and the cliff's. Cliff diving is the past time for most of the boys around here." She said as she looked down at him. She know that he was different that the rest of the boys on the reservation, and she realized that since he was not from here as far as she knew, he was not kin to her like the rest of the boys. Lexi knew that Quil and Xeon would not be happy if they saw her with him, but she did not care. They were always ditching her lately.
"Most of us go into the city, if we want to do something." She said to him wondering if he was staying long. "So where are you from?" she asked finally trying to figure him out.
Kaden looked around while she was speaking and then back at her. You're from the Makah rez? I've never met anyone from up there. I'm from Texas, actually. I grew up and lived there until about a year ago, then I made my way up here. Sam is actually a cousin on my mom's side of the family. My dad's family is what took us to Texas. he said. He had sat down by the end of his little speech and looked back up at the girl standing by him. The city? Which one? Seattle, or Portland? They are the only ones around here worth mentioning, right? he asked her.

Lexi listened to Kaden and was intrigued. She knew all the boys around the reservation, but she was not looking for a romance anyway. She did however enjoy making new friends. When he said that Sam was his cousin that explained alot. She knew Sam and Emily. "Must have been interesting to grow up off a reservation. As for the city, we go to Port Angeles most of the time. It is closer than the others." She said to him as she sat down and made herself comfortable. She knew that if Quil wanted her, he would come to the beach. "So what do you think of the reservation, so far?" She asked him.
Kaden listened to her, and spoke like he would to any friend. Yeah, it was pretty cool I guess. The town I lived in had about 1,000 people in it, so it was small as far as Texas towns go. We didn't have any major stores or restaurants. I graduated from a public school. It was a sleepy little town. I heard they finally went wet. Biggest thing to happen. Kaden chuckled and looked around. Port Angeles? Sounds like a riot. As far as the reservation, it seems.... kinda boring. No offense and all. But, there really isn't anything to do around here except come here or go running in the woods... Kaden stopped talking for a second, then finished changing his statement you know, on the trails and stuff. Gotta get in the exercise

Lexi listened to Kaden talk about the town that he grow up in and it reminded her a lot of the rez. "Well that town sounds a lot like the rez, to me." She said to him. She knew that in a sense the rez was like any other small town, but with different beliefs. "Port Angles in not a big town, but at least we can go to the movies and out to eat." Lexi said smiling, she know that most of the Olympic Peninsula was small towns. Lexi heard him talk about the rez and she could not disagree with that. "I know that the rez can be a little boring, that is why I spend most of my time in the woods. I want to be a Wildlife Biologist, so I am always in the woods, looking at the wildlife." She said as she thought about going off to college soon.
[it only took me 10 months, but here goes the reply! lol]
Kaden sat and listened to her. He was only half paying attention now, because this little conversation had brought up more questions in his head. Why had he left for Washington? Why not Oklahoma or New Mexico? They were closer, right? Maybe he wanted to get to know more about his mom, but that was a fat chance seeing as she was an only child. His mother's cousins didn't know her too well, so he had basically drove two thousand miles for a fresh start. He leaned back on his elbows and propped on leg up on the other, then stared out at the ocean. It's rather calming out here, ya know? I used to hate Texas summers. Hundred degree temps are no fun at all. Especially in my car. Ick. he looked over at Lexi and then back out over the water. I hope it's better here. If not, I may just move to Alaska to get away from it all. I don't know anyone here. I don't particularly like Sam, that's not to say I dislike him. He sighed then stood up. You know what? I'm really sorry to unload all over you. I'm sure you've got plenty on your mind already, and here I am spilling my guts like a little schoolgirl. I apologize. He turned and made his way to his car, then stopped abotu halfway to it. He turned around and looked at her, Would you like a ride somewhere?
