Christmas was Claude's favorite time of the year.Even before he became a vampire he had fond memories of the holiday but it had been a few years since he had anyone to celebrate with. For so long he was Claudis the nomadic vampire travelling the world on a quest for discovery. It hadn't been until he had landed in Forks looking for Bigfoot in the surrounding national forest that he had become Claude the weird guy or Claude that fun dude whoever you talked to you might get a different answer. While around the same time he had found some shapeshifters and some human friends that he began to see more like family.Being spontaneous and in the sport of giving Claude had found himself renting an RV and inviting all his favorite friends along for two week all paid vacation to a Chalet in the mountains. He wasn't sure If everyone would be able to make it but after sending out all his invitations which was a thirty second clip of him wearing a Santa suit dancing with Blue at the strip club he knew his friends couldn't resist. He had got them to meet him at Starbutts and after they had all arrived Claude had started them out on the journey.
It had been a few years since Claude had driven any sort of vehicle so he hoped he would get everyone to their destination safely but just in case he got Raf and Candi to sign danger wavers. He was worried about the shifter; they could heal up okay if he rolled the metal death box off a cliff. After a while the time on the road seemed to be going by fast and even though the trip was a three hour ride away it seemed like it didn't take any time at all. Listening to his GPS Claude turned up a snowy mountain road and flowed it all the way up until he came to a driveway that had been plugged out for them and turned off the engine. He picked up Blue in his arms, opened the door to the back compartment and smiled at all his friends. "Ok every welcome to Chateau Claude, feel free to do anything except burn the place down." He walked out the door to usher his his faithful companions out the door.

Cloud hadn’t been to where Claude had invited them, and he was pretty excited. That was an understatement; he was actually hyper and trying to pretend he could stand the drive. The fact that they were stuck in an RV was better than if they had been in a bus, a limo or anything that was smaller. With this, he had things to be distracted with, a sink, bed, toilet, dining booth and television overhead. He was mellowed out with some of Natasha’s gummies, which he had asked her for in preparation to these hours, blackmailing that she would have to deal with him the whole trip otherwise. Sitting on the small elevated bed at the end of the camper van, he was tall enough his head would almost hit the ceiling if not for his slightly slouching posture as he dealt out cards cross legged in legwarmers over some puffy boots. He was wearing some flamboyant winter wear that included a fluffy coat and an oversized sweater, metallic thread shimmering through the knitting; pearls adorning his neck, he was starting a pastel trend.
Feather thought he was wearing her stuff again but he actually went out of his way to buy these things that would probably look really good on Candela. He glanced at her as he thought, having grown out his hair, it was a light blonde squiggly mess before his face, long enough he could barely see her petite self. For the whole trip he had been stifling laughter and giggling spontaneously from the high; this was also the third time he would be in the presence of the Beach man and he just wanted to burst out loud since he was such an easy target to make fun of, everything he did was funny. Cloud was almost certain they had no relationship of any kind and it didn’t matter whatever he did or thought, Rafael wouldn’t notice or understand; the man had already told him to go to the gym, which he didn’t take as an insult, more of an indication of the difference of interests between them. Now that the human had discovered shapeshifters and other beings existed, he was more relaxed but still curious and secretive about his own wild form. He wanted to scare Rafael another time since he had missed out on Catcher’s illicit escapade with Veronica the night of the date flop; something he should have followed to see but didn't think would end the way it had. Instead he had stayed with Claude, also eating whatever was left that was still good in the restaurant as the bills were paid for; he was pretty satisfied with his choice, parting ways when Claude got a text. That was until he heard about the big man fainting, and the whole underwear comment.
As he recollected, he snickered, about to just snort and start guffawing uncontrollably when the RV stopped and Claude announced they had arrived. He stopped abruptly, suddenly attentive, dropping his whole deck of cards onto the bed after slapping one on Catcher’s forehead before hopping off and rushing to the front to look out the big window, marveling at the sight. It was a winter wonderland across the mountains, and directly in front of them was the biggest log cabin chalet he had ever seen. This was a mountain lion’s dream if not for the cold and he jumped over all the steps down the vehicle and thudded onto the icy ground before slapping the side of the van and poking his head back around the opening, calling out to Claude to open the storage compartment where everyone’s luggage was.
When that was unlocked, he lifted the side panel and looked for his bag as well as Feather’s, dragging them out; he had a large wheeled duffle that was stuffed like a sack of lumpy coal, iron-ons and random tags stuck all over it from their journeys. What he had packed was anyone's guess; he didn't always know what he threw in because he overpacked, thinking he may want to wear something that he never usually ended up putting on. ”Is this the right one?” Asking his sister, he vaguely remembered what the bag he had tossed atop of his looked like; pulling up a snood that was wrapped endlessly around his neck like a big soft bandage above his chin to mummify himself from the sudden cold. He kept staring at the house and held onto his baggage waiting for everyone else, sniffling in the chill.

Father was sitting on the floor of th Rv cross legged with her sketchbook on her lap drawing cute custom Christmas cards for everyone. She loved the holidays and how the season of giving brought the best out of everyone. She had all of her winter gear folded up in a nice pile close by. This was the first year on along time She and her brother would see snow for Christmas. Growing up in Arizona a white Christmas was almost a fairytale as a child. So when everyone had been invited to go to a snowy mountain holiday getaway by Claude, Feather couldn’t resist. She had done shopping by herself to pick out her winter wear. Everything she picked out was black besides these fluorescent pink boots she thought would be a cute balance to all dark clothing. She and Cloud would contrast well.
She was just finishing up coloring a red scarf on a snowman when Claude had brought the engine to a stop and opened the door. Feather was glad he kept the little chihuahua up front with him because she still didn't like it much, she had noticed that it was getting more used to all of Claude's friends because of barking less than what he used to. Getting up off the floor she tucked her sketchbook into a cloth bag covered in rainbow mandalas before slipping on the things and heading out after Cloud. As she step out she opened her mouth in shock and scanned the scenery. Everything was covered with a fresh dusting of snow making the evening look so magical. She still couldn't believe they were spending the holidays in a beautiful mansion like a cabin in the mountains. "Yes Cloud, great memory." She smiled walking over to her brother who seemed to be a bit more worried about the cold than she was. Taking her bag from him she forgot how much she had over packed. She wanted to make sure everyone got a gift so she even packed a few extras just in case. Most were just random little things she had come across but she knew someone would enjoy any gift from her even if it was a random mug or a healing crystal. She popped her head into the RV to see what was taking the others so long. "Come on everyone let's get moving."

Leaning against the window on the other side of the small bed, he was holding his fan of cards waiting for Cloud’s turn, feeling all the bumps and rolls the RV made as it travelled uphill slowly. He had napped half consciously before they started playing and he moved to sit at the edge, hands on the mattress trying to see out the distant windshield as they neared the destination. For the past few hours Cloud had been overly entertained by what he had relayed about Rafael and it was infectious; they both watched the merman turn from his passenger seat beside Claude to steal glances 'checking' on Veronica from time to time. When she felt something and looked in his direction, he would act like he wasn't doing anything and face the front which ended up making Catcher and Cloud snicker. Cloud was exaggerated like a little sniggering girl, his contorted expressions too funny to resist and all he could do was put his hands on his own face to stifle himself from doing the same thing. They were equally inconspicuously seeming like they were doing nothing whenever anyone else looked their way from the noises; he knew Cloud really just wanted someone to ask what he found so hilarious but none of the girls ever did.
Still peeking without leaving his position, the van broke hard, a gust of exhaust releasing with a rumble beneath everyone as it skidded to the halt. He was distracted when Cloud tossed his handful in a pile, smacked a card on his forehead so it stuck and rushed to the front; a real kid at Christmas. He left it on his face as he gathered the rest to put back in the box, peeling the last one before he closed it. They were his very used ghost deck and he tucked it in the pocket of his dark blue peacoat as he put it on.
Looking to see if Seth was also getting up, he turned to Candela and patted her head lightly before making his way quickly after Feather, rounding her as she asked the rest to hurry. Beside Cloud, he took out all of Candela’s very ostentatious luggages and stacked them so they were out of the way of everyone else and closer to the side of the entrance; she had packed everything meticulously as he remembered she fussed over it at the house. He had just watched her like she had an obsessive disorder and told her it didn’t matter if they left the house without it being ready for their return since she wanted to do so much shopping; she was right though, they needed gifts for the tree.
Now that those were out, the storage space under the camper seemed very empty and he pulled his own black metal trunk and brown leather weekend duffle out so he could loop it around the handle to drag both. He paused and handed one of Candela’s suitcases to Cloud so he would help carry it and took another in his free hand. It matched Cloud so well, it may as well have been his and he could see it brought a grin on his friend’s half covered face, loving the now completed ensemble; he looked like boy Barbie.
Waiting for Claude who had the keys, he stomped on some snow for fun, the fresh layer leaving clear boot prints. The cold was something he had been looking forward to because the temperature felt more comfortable and he pulled out the trailing scarf that he had stuffed in his back pocket. It was dangling down the back of his legs and he carelessly wrapped it around his neck with one hand not tying or tucking it, the collar of the coat he wore popped as it held it in place, shielding him from wind. He was smiling to himself as he blew a stream of vapour pretending to be a dragon. It was different when it was a hot mist not a puff of smoke burning through his nostrils, the season made everyone more cheerful and he could feel the holiday spirit. Everything looked better with the view and he was enthusiastic that in several hours it would be the yuletide Eve.

Promises, She had made a few before she had come along on for this impromptu holiday getaway. One was she would bring an assortment of goodies she had been working on for some of the other tones if they like, the other was to be kind and try to keep her anger in check. She hadn't been bottling in her emotions anymore so how she was the last time she had seen the majority of others. Sitting in a seat so she could watch the scenery fly by. She had been listening to music most of the journey, singing along when she found a song that she was vibing with. She had brought her guitar along with her, she was still learning but just as Cloud mentioned the day Feather had given her tattoo with a little practice she had begun to learn other songs. She had learned a few Christmas songs to play. She thought it would be something she could do while sitting around the fireplace.
She would let her eye drift around the room a few times, before returning to her own little world. She couldn't hear their conversation at all but she looked back at Could and Catcher who seemed to be laughing and smirking a lot as they played cards. Seth looked like he was striking up a conversation between Veronica and Candi.occasionally he tried to wave her over to come join them but she just fake just picked up her textbook she had brought along and pretended she was studying. She thought the drive up would be worse but between the gummies music and fake studying she was actually in a pretty good mood.
Felling the RV to come to a stop rocking her forward in her seat looked over at Claude hearing him speak over her music, she slowly got up taking her time to slip on her back beanie and her oversized length red wool coat. She didn't do up the buttons because she rather enjoyed the cold and the snow. Tash slipped her text book into her backpack and picked her guitar case in her hand before walking off the bus behind the twins and Catcher. The snow was so bright it was almost blinding as the sun reflected off the pristine white surface. She smiles knowing she could have some fun playing in it later pranking the other as she would be virtually invisible in this environment if she decided to phase and run around. She pulled her headphones out of her ears and slipped them into her jacket pocket before reaching into the luggage department to grab out her own bag. She smiled at Catcher before walking over to Feather who seemed to be hardly able to contain herself as she was spinning in circles with her arms out. "You sure seem to be enjoying yourself and we haven't even stepped foot inside. I'm down to bake some cookies, how about everyone else who wants to help?"

When Claude had sent a quick Claudemas video invitation, Candela jumped with joy. She started packing right way, throwing all of her cute winter clothes in the luggage, sent a quick text to Veronica that she has to come to give her company and sat on the luggage to close the zipper. Two luggages later, she wondered why she had packed so much when Catcher had one trunk. When it comes to packing, her anxiety takes over and needs everything perfect. She told herself it’s good to have more clothes than less. Not to mention, she got presents for everyone, including Rafael, Blue and Natasha. Candela didn’t care about what happened between her and Natasha and her and Rafael. She moved on from Rafael with burying herself in books, work and spending any free time she has with Catcher and sometimes Veronica.
She was thrilled to spend few days in winter wonderland, sipping boozy hot coco, cooking, decorating and getting to know each other a little better. Something about the holidays and winter temperature that brings everyone together, they’re more joyful than before, they’re nice and at times nasty when it comes to Christmas shopping. This time she won’t be spending Christmas alone, she made a small knit in matter of few weeks of moving to Washington and here she was with the group. It didn’t bother her that Rafael was there but what bothered was the fact that whole ride he was looking over his shoulder or turning back to check on Veronica. It was sickening to see Rafael stealing glances then looking away blushing when Veronica had looked at his direction. Candela tried to block the view, distract Veronica from looking towards Rafael’s way but she didn’t succeed much.
When the RV came to abrupt halt, Candela knew she should have wore a seatbelt or at least a helmet. Upon getting on the RV, Claude had made her and Rafael sign a liability form; she thought it was funny but now she understood why. Candela was about to jump and run towards the door and jump in the snow but that thought left her mind as soon as she felt someone patting her head. She looked up through her lashes and saw Catcher. She smiled at him and watched him exit the RV, following Feather telling everyone to hurry up. Candela got up, wore her black parka over her jeans and long sleeve emerald green top, took Veronica’s hands and dragged her out the RV and jumped in snow making her giggle. She felt like a kid all over again; she never had white Christmas before and first time in her twenty-something odd years she will.
As Candela took in the scenery, her eyes grew wider. The mountain top had a fresh dusting of powder, it was the winter wonderland of every childhood dream. One could imagine oneself as a fairy upon a vast white cake, shoes white with sugar. Yet real trees are so much more than one can imagine from a simple card or television image, there is a spirit about them, a sense of wisdom and an aroma that calms the soul. She looked towards Cloud and Catcher, her pink with white polka dot luggage in their hands making her chuckle. All they needed was a pink box that had name Cloud on it instead of Ken. She would have gotten her own luggage but boys beat her to it. ”If the outside looks magical, I bet inside would be something out of Martha Stewart’s book once the decorations are up.” Candela was talking to herself as she stepped onto lodge style porch.
Post by Veronica Call on Aug 27, 2021 12:17:34 GMT -5
Veronica sat on the sofa with Candela, chatting up everything and nothing at the same time. She didn’t know why she agreed when Candela told her she needs company on the trip. Veronica has seen enough snow to last a lifetime but there was something about the Holidays that bring everyone together. While everyone is watching scary Halloween movies, Veronica starts watching Christmas movies in October. Even though it’s same plot for every movie, it didn’t stop her. It puts her in Christmas spirit along with listening to Christmas songs; she was going to spend few weeks with her mom and stepdad for a change but opted out. She was telling herself that Candela needed her when Natasha might be throwing herself at Catcher. She doesn’t know what Catcher and Natasha’s relationship is or where it stands, from what she heard or understand it’s complicated. She didn’t have energy or brain cells to dig into this.
She pulled out Someone Like You by Lauren Layne book from her tote and started reading. She was getting tired of Candela talking her ear off, doing things so she could avoid eye contact with Rafael and C boys snickering at something. She started reading her book, deep into imagining how things are between characters when she would feel someone watching her. Each time she looks up, she would find Rafael looking at her and when their eyes would meet, he would look away. She raised her eyebrow at him, confused why he was sitting in the front if he was going to just stare at her. She was happy with distraction she was getting from her romance book.
The book was getting interesting when RV stopped, one by one everyone was leaving RV; she barely had chance to place her book in the tote before being dragged by barbie doll. She watched Candela acting like a kid and it was rather funny to see her jump like a little kid. Veronica went back inside RV, picked up her tote and wrapped a scarf around her neck. Cold weather never bothered her, she welcomed it with open arms along with wearing warm clothes even though she didn’t need to. She exited RV and grabbed her own luggage out of storage space before turning around. Even on the coldest days of winter the sun is bright in the sky, bringing joy to her heart. The snow has a purity that elevates her spirit, the world made as pristine as a book ready for new stories. Veronica eyes looked at everything knowing it’s going to look even more magical at night than during the day.
Veronica walked to the porch behind Candela and set her luggage down. ”Claude, how many bedroom does this place have?” Veronica looked at Claude who was holding his devil dog. She was thankful the dog didn’t come where the gang was sitting otherwise she would have been ready to throw the dog out the window. She loved animals but that dog was not an animal. She started believing it was possessed by some demon. When Natasha mentioned baking cookies, her mind started screaming. Both of them had their differences but when it comes to baking, her friend wasn’t the greatest. She wanted to give her benefit of the doubt and gave her a smile and thumbs up. Veronica had tp bite her tongue down so she wouldn’t say anything. She will bake cookies and dessert later on if need to be.

Growing up Christmas in Seth house was always such a grand event. She always went all out decorating, baking cookies that he was almost unwilling to accept the invitation Claude had sent him for the holiday getaway. He had gone back and forth on it for days until he found out Leah was home for the holidays and she wouldn't be alone. Looking over at Veronica as the RV came to a quick stop Seth laughed."At least we all made it here in one piece." He sat in his seat till almost everyone was out of the door before he got up slipping on his navy blue jacket and stepped out the door. Seth took one look at Cloud's get up and shook his head. He didn't want to admit that Cloud confused him. Seth did think he was good looking; he liked his new hairstyle and between that and the way he dresses Seth was beginning to wonder if he had different gender preferences he didn't want to come out and ask Cloud directly. He had to see if Catcher had any idea.
Seth pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and started looking for bars. "Hey there is no signal out here, what if we run out of food and need to order takeout?" If it wasn't for Claude who had planned the getaway it would have crossed his mind but because last time he had eaten anything Claude had touched he thought he was going to die it took about a week for his full appetite to come back. Sometimes Seth still felt.he could taste the vampire rinse water. He just hoped there were a bunch of prepackaged items inside. If not he hoped Claude wouldn't be allowed anywhere in the kitchen.
Walking over to the open storage compartment, Seth reached in and pulled out his bag. Compared to everyone else he had packed light he didn't bring gifts like everyone else seem to have, it's not like he didn't care he just didn't have much time to shop. He would make it up with them whenever they needed some maintenance on their vehicles. Throwing his duffle bag over his shoulder, started walking down the path towards the front door. He spin around to look at Veronica."Who cares how many rooms there are? We will all probably be up all night having fun, but if there's not enough beds for everyone you can always share with me if you want."

Claude watched as guests alighted the Rv. He heard a bag on the side walls, so assuming it was to unlock the storage compartment he pressed the release button allowing an odd assortment of friends to grab their belongings. Hopping out of the back himself, Claude had forgotten his jacket inside hanging off his seat. His body wasn't affected by temperatures so.he often dressed like he could to help keep the fact he was a vampire hidden from the normal humans. Raf and Candi both knew his secret so there was no reason to fight though when someone first told Candi he was a vampire she didn't really ever ask him about it. He just assumed that she accepted it somehow. It was possible Ronaldo explained it better to her then he ever did Raphael.
He stood in the cool air and faked a breath hoping a cloud of some would come out of his nostrils like he could see from all the others as they breath their warm breath out into the frosty air. He walked down the path behind Veronica and Candela spinning the keys around on his index finger."Bedrooms? Oh well it has some never really thought about it on the account I never sleep.”Claude chuckled. “ I guess you all have to rush in there and find out.” He slipped the keys into the large wooden door feastly painted red. The door creaked open slowly and Claude stepped out of the way to let the others in realising he had forgotten to wake Raf who was asleep in the front seat. About two thirds of the way into the drive he had stopped looking over his shoulder to check on Queenie and fell asleep. Knowing it was too cold out to let the big lug to continue to sleep he trudged back threw the snow taking Large steps as possible.
Opening the passage's side door, Claude moved out of the was as Rafeal tumbled out of the seat and out into the snow. He woke with a shock hitting the pile of white powder outside the door. Claude looked down at his large Hawian friend and held his stomach as he laughed. “Good afternoon sleeping beauty.” Seeing the white snow gave Claude a great idea, originally he was going to dress up in a big synthetic white beard red suit, be Santa Claude but now he would give that pleasure later to Raf. If he was lucky then maybe he could get Veronica to sit on his lap. “He held out his hand to help the big guy up. “Come one hurry up inside. It will be world war 3 over who gets what bedroom soon.”

Snow was something Rafeal had never seen much of his life. Between living in Hawaii then later in California. He always wanted to give snowboarding a try so when he was invited up to the mountains for the Christmas holidays he accepted. The only thing he didn't know was that Claude had invited the rest of his gang of misfits until he had shown up at Starbutts . Deciding to sit in the front seat with Claude, mostly to comfort and his previous odd interactions with some of the others, Raf would peer over his shoulder every once and a while as he cuddled Blue in the front seat. He was a little caught off guard when she had caught him a few times but he tried to pretend he wasn’t watching her at all reuting his eyes to the road quickly. Raf was more surprised by the little chihuahua's behaviour, had started off on the wrong foot but now the little finger biter had seemed to fall in love with him. Raf stofly pet his little gray head Blue curled up in his lap and fell asleep.
The little snickers coming from the very back of the RV were annoying Rafeal a little bit but He would make it known that they were.Cloud and Catcher, while supposed to be men, though they were acting like little school girls with all the giggling and snickers coming from the back. . After a few hours and a few stolen glances at Veronica, Raf had drifted off to sleep. He had not slept much the night before because he had planned on giving Veronica a gift before he left but he wasn't sure how he would make an excuse to go see her before the holiday not wanting to stroll up to her house with a gift in hand looking like a big dubbing moron. He had recently acquired a beautiful sapphire necklace from an estate clean out and thought it would be the perfect gift for a girl who deserved to be treated like a princess.
Head pressed against the glass window, Raf had been dreaming of the water and sunshine back in California when he felt like he had been knocked over by a large wave but instead of a Wave he had come crashing out of the Rv into a cold pile of snow. His eyes open with a start as he felt the cold wet snow touch his face. He had gotten a faceful of the cold white stuff. He looked up at Claude with a half smile, slightly embarrassed and took his hand. Standing up to his full height, Raf dusted the know off his tan khaki pants and red flannel shirt. “You know Claude you could have just taped me on the should and I would have just got out on my own.” Raf moved to the back of the Rv and picked up his bag, seeing the others heading towards the front door he followed slowly talking in the winter wonderland which was more beautiful them most pictures he had seen before, from the snow over peaks in the distant mountains and the close trees Raf knew he was going to enjoy his time there. “ We should all go out and pick out a tree in the woods, Do you have a chain saw.”

Matching the spotted doll trunk he was holding, he lit up at Catcher, swinging it a little in his grasp and smiling widely at Candela when she saw him with her bag. As Claude moved to unlock the large red door, a green lush wreath adorning it shook as it opened outwards in massive swing, he rushed into the house in excitement, inadvertently positioning himself to claim dibs on a room. Almost dropping everything in his hands so he could run around exclaiming at every little thing he saw, he restrained himself and took in the empty space, seeing the stairway to the upstairs guest rooms lined with a corridor that overlooked the living area like a balcony.
Everything was wooden, fur lined, stone, a mixture of textiles that somehow balanced and he thoroughly admired it; an aesthetic far from his own in every way, it was new and he loved that it wasn’t a place he would ever choose on his own yet felt like a home. The wood comprised of the walls, split in half so they were still rounded lumber, buffed and polished smooth with no trace of bark; it was a wonder no cold air seeped, a gapless timeless construction. He remembered his sister's presence and how many days they were going to be here and got a grip; looking up at the vaulted ceilings with the Spanish iron chandeliers, candles lighting it up. There were plenty of days and more than enough time for him to touch everything, check every secret space in this building and he made plans for where to begin exploring other than his room.
Cloud could feel the ambience affecting his mood; it was warm and fuzzy inside his mind now, the weed giving him the munchies and his stomach threatened to growl, slightly burning with the hunger. Now he just wanted to eat a lot of decadent sweet cake, baked goods and dessert but they had to get settled first, and in his blur he had no idea where he would find those items unless he made them. It disturbed him that Natasha’s statement about baking with Feather and inviting anyone else along suddenly came as he was thinking these things; the little Tinkerbell had read his mind and of all people, she was the last person he saw as a baker and that was if the whole world ended. Even Rafael would pull off the apron more. He didn’t want to help, he wanted to make his own stuff and she could help if that was what she wanted and he peered at her with a sideways glance, calculating how fast he could get to the kitchen, seeing her bag and thinking about borrowing some liquid fun. He didn’t have enough THC in a bottle for everyone to feel things and he was certain the point besides him eating as he baked was to make everyone as hungry as he was, laughing at every stupid thing like he did; he wasn’t oblivious to Rafael’s judgment while he was in the RV and he wanted the big man to chill. Beach man was never chill, burning through the snow as he fell out the seat with the tiny dog.
Snorting, he had hurriedly pretended he didn’t and put down Candela’s suitcase, rolling his own bag as he strolled across the open house, some snow tracking under his shoes melting. Going to the kitchen, he saw that there were a few doors nearby and one of them, he opened to see a bed; it was a suite on the main floor and he decided instantly that he would stay there even though it was the master. He didn't mind sharing with anyone but he also thought everyone was paired off, not wanting to ask their host how many rooms there were again; he just had to decide. His head was the only thing visible in the doorway as he shouted across the cabin so everyone could hear. ”Claude you don’t sleep so I’m taking this bed. Leave your stuff and use the room if you want. I can’t smell shit… so you’re a vampire, I’ll be a vampire.” Retracting his roller bag, he let it fall over, throwing himself onto the bed face first, bouncing with comfort from being so confined in a low overhead vehicle. Unlacing his boots while still laying so they were kicked off across the tapestry rug at the foot of the bed, he made a bed angel instead of snow. He would unpack after he got to rush into other people’s bedrooms and see their décor but he wasn’t going to slip and slide around with the wet soles ruining the floor. Bolting up again in his layered socks, he dropped his cream fur coat on the quilt and ran back, skidding on purpose to where everyone else was entering in a dramatic welcome, arms outstretched and grinning, his blonde hair blowing.

Feather smiled at Natasha, her thoughts the type of cookies she might be able to eat were way different from the others but she wasn't going to deny a cookie or two. She breaks her veganism if it means she might starve or miss out on all the delicious Christmas treats. "I don't know what I could attempt to bake but whatever it is, try a few bites."she patted Natasha on the shoulder with her free hand as they both walked down the path that led to the door. As they walked closer she let her eyes study all the outdoor decorations, there were tiny little strings of multicolored lights framing out the wooden structure, wrapped around strands of artificial looking greenery. It matches well with the large wreath hanging on the front door. She has to come out at night to see them all lit up, it would be spectacular.
The mention of bedrooms got Feather thinking,if there were enough beds for them all, she thought Claude would have thought that out beforehand but he was right he was a Vampire beds were just a novelty to them. As the door was open and Cloud quickly got it she was relieved because she knew he would secure a room and if she really had to bunk with him. She followed him as quickly as she could, making her way gracefully around Candi and V. She looked back out the door and laughed slightly as she could see Raf had fallen out of the rv and out into the snow. He was certainly not even close to being as graceful as herself but he did have a kind spirit so she felt bad for him. She didn't feel bad enough to go help him up and Claude was there anyway.
Setting herbags down she quickly pulled bright pink boots and left by the door and ran up the stairs looking for a room. She was quite impressed by the workmanship that went onto the interior of the dwelling. The wood work was just incredible; it looked like whoever was in charge of the construction really respects the trees that were used. She was digging the vibe,.she could feel the energy which felt very calming and she hoped with all the different personalities this structure would not be too strong to overpower it. She let her fingers run across the varnished wooden railing and explored upstairs, the railing wrapped around the whole upstairs area leaving the center open to make the main areas look almost like the ceiling could go on forever. She opened the door in the far left corner. the room which had two double beds, with carved wooden bed frames that matched the rest of the place prefect all the way down to the checkered red and black bedspreads. She threw her jacket down on the bedroom and claimed it before anyone else decided they wanted it. Leaning over the railing she quietly yelled down making enough noise over the others. "There is a free bed in my room if anyone wants it."

Seth’s words drifted to his ears and he was surprised, but somehow he thought his best friend sharing with Veronica would be the funniest thing ever; it would give her some relief from Rafael and balance her mood. All the positivity Seth was might even rub off on her so she didn’t find it such a drag every time he delivered some cheese and hit on her. He could just picture the struggle Rafael would have trying to get her alone and that room with Seth in it would become her sanctuary, her immediate escape; he just wanted to hear her yell through the walls. Catcher stayed smiling to himself as everyone exited the vehicle and went in after Cloud, squashing past him as he heard him snort; the thud in the snow and the exchange about sleeping and falling faded.
Not looking back, he carried the duffle on his shoulder and lugged the rigged trunk up the staircase straight to the room at the end of the corridor, just leaving it there by the door before strutting back down the stairs, feet picking up pace as Feather climbed up. He simply chose the room that was most isolated, a quiet corner; as he thought to do this, he realised it would have a great view, satisfied with his random choice. This place was a dream for inspiration and he could see himself lost in a productive imagination by the window, honestly needing a break from heightened stress he had lived in for months at the academy. Here, he was allowed to sleep and be at peace in a room with so much elevation it seemed they were in a castle in the sky.
To where he had left Candela’s other trunk because he needed two hands, he picked up the one Cloud had left too. He turned his head to see Feather choose a room, making the softest yell, almost knowing that one of the girls would bunk with her; he just couldn’t tell who, glancing at all three before he spoke to Seth. ”Even if there are enough rooms, you should keep her company.”
Veronica seemed a little disinterested in the trip, probably because she was a shoulder to lean on for Candela and also had to deal with endless flirting from a hopeless romantic. If things were tense, it would be a tough time to stay stranded up in the mountains together. Recalling snippets of retaliation between Natasha and Veronica in the Summer, he didn’t really want to see that happen during this holiday; whatever it took to not have a Grinch around would be worth it. If he had to be honest with himself, he wouldn’t have had this kind of celebration; it was just Claude’s ingenious video invitation that sold him, he couldn’t find an excuse, not having the heart to refuse in the first place, he forgot all about everyone else in the moment he agreed. It was like going on an epic adventure every time the vampire came up with an idea; he had real Jedi mind tricks.
As Natasha had smiled at him, his eyes traveled with her while she moved, frozen; he had difficulty understanding how to respond to her when he had adjusted to not being around her, unable to remember what it felt like to interact in front of everyone else as well. Although they shared consistent communication, he had grown cautious and more muted. The circles under his eyes a telltale sign that he had waited for her too long; he had been careless in an illusion that she would ever be ready for anything more. In lust and love he had put both on hold for her, stopping the clock for her to decide; withdrawing that he would've told her he needed her if that was the push she required. It was impossible now to believe in all he hoped and behave boldly in a love that could be written on the skyline; he would just tell her he was happy even if he didn’t want to see her walk into a room and steal what was left of his self-worth. The last couple of times they had been together, it was just them in their universe and now that he had a separate world from here, he was acutely aware of how open hers truly was; before, the idea of her life at college was surreal, now he felt like his head was filled with nothing but pure idealism back then and a part of him wished she had opened her eyes to someone else on the sand. He had been in what became a nightmare, dressed as a daydream and he couldn't stop himself from beginning to shut out their past, looking at his future as Candela's reflection glowed in his eyes.
It was just in time for Cloud to come sliding towards everyone, little puddles of water dotting a trail to where he had been. He locked all the thoughts away with the entertaining welcome and amused himself with Cloud’s antics. Not waiting for Candela, he took a few steps upwards again, before peering down at her, it was exactly the same as when they left the house and she was making sure everything was secure; last minute anxiety. ”If you wait you won’t get your own room.” He stood there anticipating she would finally dash up like the child she really was, tilting his head with a patiently dazed expression.

She followed along with Feather trying to keep up with her stride but her legs were not as long so her stride was smaller. She was glad Feather said she would try some baking even if it wasn't vegan. Tash didn't even have a clue to what things in a kitchen pantry would even fit Feather dietary choices and she and she just hoped there was internet so she could research it maybe. She wasn't hopeful because head Seth mentioned there were no cell phone signals. What was Claude trying to do to cut off all their ties to the outside world? She really didn't have anyone to call and everyone she had regular text conversations with were all going to be staying together in this oversize cabin. She watched as Feather turned around and laughed but she didn't turn herself to look. She was concerned she wouldn't get a place to sleep, all she wanted was a room away from Candi.and if there weren't enough beds she chose to sleep in the bathroom. Making her way past the threshold she placed her bag down and kicked her boots off placing them on a rug by the door. She picked the duffle back up long with her backpack and started heading towards the stairs.
Catcher and just came back down looking like he might have called a room for himself. She heard Feather’s offer and for a small second she wanted to drop her bags down beside Catcher's trunk in the hallway. Cuddled up sharing a bed with him would be something she loved to do but the thought left her mind knowing she had to be more practical, she was here to spend time with everyone not to turn this little holiday into something that would certainly drama. She reached the top of the stairs and walked over to Feather. "I'll share with you, I used to have a roommate. Now it's probably too quiet for me to sleep without someone around." She walked into the room and placed her bags at the foot of the bed and tossed her jacket on top of it before walking out to the edge of the balcony and looking around the place they would be saying. This cabin was something similar she could see herself living in just on a smaller scale and somewhere a little closed to civilization. It had a way of bringing the beauty of nature inside. It was in the woods where she could always find some place of solace in the world. Reconnect herself to who she once was and now she hopes to be. She looked down at Candi, Veronica and Seth by the door. Waiting to see who would make it up the stairs the fastest.
This was a big change from what she was used to. Everyday was walking up early, heading to the coffee shop, getting breakfast for her and Daniella before class. This would be a well needed vacation from the routine. School was going great but she was really getting tired of the routine. She needs this holiday with a crazy unpredictable group of friends. Any adventure planned by Claude was one she never wanted to miss. One person who she had missed seeing everyday was Seth and she was glad to finally get to see him again. "Seth, hurry up and find a room before you get stuck sleeping with Raf."

Candela vowed to herself that she would never get nasty with anyone during the getaway. It was Christmas time and she needed to be jolly not throwing shades at Natasha and Rafael. She had been thoughtful when it came to gifts, wrapping them and hoping everyone likes them. For Catcher, Veronica and Candela pitched in and got him bluetooth turntable. It took both of them to figure what to get Catcher and by the time they had ordered it with expedited delivery, it wasn’t set to arrive until after they get home. She was freaking out that she packed everyone else’s but not Catcher’s; Veronica had assured that Catcher won’t mind and it will give him something to look forward to.
It was her first winter in the snow and so far she was not disappointed. While the freezing weather was nothing for her friends, she was shivering and sniffling her life away. She laughed at the thought that if she ever gets cold, she can just snuggle up to either Catcher or Veronica. Little time she has gotten to know them and their small circle, they have been nothing but nice towards…well with the exception of Rafael and Natasha. She over looks them and focuses on the positive things others give her.
Candela was hoping she and Veronica would share a room together however before she could open her mouth to suggest that, Seth suggested both him and Veronica could share a bed. It was a good idea since mostly everyone would be paired into rooms aside from Claude. ”We’re on vacation! Forget bars and phones! It’s time to disconnect from the world and enjoy this beautiful cozy weather.” Candela winked at Seth as she walked past him to go inside the house. Candela needed time away from part time jobs and school and not having to worry about feeling burned out at the end of each week. Claude was nice enough to invite her and taking few days off from work just to be a couch potato, sip on hot chocolate while looking at blanket of snow.
Candela took off her boots by the front door and walked deeper in the house. A gasp left her lips when she saw open kitchen; Large pale floor tiles and dark brown wooden cupboards, with handles designed to look like old-fashioned brass keys in ornate locks, create the perfect country-style kitchen especially now the wood is slightly worn in places. Opposite the window is a large gas cooker, at least twice the size of its predecessor, with an oven more than big enough to cook a roast dinner for the family. This room looked like something straight out of Country Homes & Interiors magazine. Out of everything, she was looking forward cooking in the big kitchen now.
Candela was thinking about what to make for everyone when Cloud came sliding in the room. She laughed at his goofiness and thought how it would have been awesome if he had wore his fur coat. Sliding into room like a boss. ”That looks fun! Next time do it with your fur coat and a fedora —“ Candela’s attention went to Catcher’s word and looked at him all confused. It took her couple of seconds to register what he said and hastily went up the stairs with hair flying behind her. She heard Feather and Natasha talking from the left side, she decided to take safer option and go on the right side of the hallway. She wanted to be far away from white wolf as possible.
Opening first door on the right side, she saw full size bed with white bedding with gold accent, dresser - mirror, night stand on each side of bed with lamps and two windows had white curtains with navy blue block-print medallions. There was a calmness, a serenity in the medium size room. Candela took off her coat and placed it on the dressing table before jumping on the bed. She was in a happy place and she was comfortable not to get up. If it were up to her, she would sleep in and not give a damn about the rest. So far what she has seen, she’s in love with the house and surrounding mountains. She pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Her first vacation in years and she doesn’t have to worry about anything.
